Blog #42 – Finding Balance in Your Fitness

Welcome to Day 42 of the Wellbeing 9-a-Day blog! Yesterday, we began to look more closely at Your Fitness and the importance of finding balance when improving physical, mental, and emotional fitness. In today’s blog, I would like to focus on the role that balance plays in a healthy lifestyle.

A Balanced, Healthy Lifestyle

A healthy lifestyle is a balance, or harmony, between our body, mind and emotions that suits each of us personally. We achieve this by learning to become more conscious of what works and what does not work in our lives.

When we listen to our bodies, minds, and emotions with curiosity, openness and respect, they become the feedback loop that can guide us from imbalance to balance. Believe me, they can be truly great guides, if we only learn to listen to with clarity, consideration, and importantly, kindness.

We must seek balance in all areas of life, notably our conscious and unconscious processing, our right and left-brain activity, our present state and desired future state, our inner and outer world activity, and our care for ourselves and for others.

Science shows that our minds and bodies are at their best when they are in a state of harmony. That is when our cell tissue rests and renews and when clarity emerges from confusion.

By finding balance in our lifestyle, we can create a more holistic transformation for our wellbeing.

A Tool for Creating Balance

The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal is a tool that can be used by anyone who is looking to improve their wellbeing in a balanced, harmonious and healthy way. It offers a framework that can be used to build daily habits, whilst also reminding you to reflect on what you have done and look forward to what is coming next.

As I near the halfway mark in my journey with the journal, I find that I have created an imbalance in parts of my own life.

Setting myself the challenge of publishing a blog for each of the 90 days that I am using the journal has created a discrepancy in my lifestyle that is beginning to put a strain on my overall wellbeing.

Between the blog, my various working commitments, and my personal life, I have found that the balance has tipped too far into action, and it is important that I remember to give myself time to rest.

Fear not, dear reader, this blog will continue, but I have had to adjust some of my loftier goals for ones that are more achievable. My hope was that I would be able to produce some exercise videos, both for fun and education, but they will have to wait until later in the challenge.

For now, it is time for me to reduce my obligations and focus on the most important things, including spending a bit more time with myself.

Call to Action!

Do one thing today to help restore some balance and harmony to your life. If you have been working too much, take some time to rest. If you have not been working enough, do one thing today to help you catch up. Whatever you do, make sure it moves you more towards balance, and remember to give yourself a big ‘Well done!’ when you have done it.
