Blog #41 - Your Fitness

Welcome to Day 41 of the Wellbeing 9-a-Day blog! Over the past 10 days, we have taken a closer at the habits contained within Your Journey and how they can help create positive change in your life. In today’s blog, I am going to start looking at the habits within Your Fitness and how they can help to ensure that you feel fit and healthy for your journey ahead.

Your Physical, Mental and Emotional Fitness

While Your Journey is essential in helping you move in the right direction in life, The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal also empowers you to build daily habits that improve Your Fitness, encouraging you to actively improve your physical, mental, and emotional health.

By Exercising your body to improve your physical fitness, Learning to expand the boundaries of your mind, and Appreciating more in order to engage your positive emotions, you enhance your ability to take advantage of opportunities and overcome challenges that life throws in your way.

Fitness is defined as ‘the condition of being physically fit and healthy’, but we think this view is a little too narrow to be fit for purpose. After all, how long can your physical fitness last if your mental or emotional fitness are not also in a good place too?

All three forms of fitness must be present if a person is to have a high quality of wellbeing.

As an example, even if you are physically and mentally fit, your overall wellbeing will suffer if you lack emotional fitness. Similarly, if your mental and emotional fitness are currently strong, they will soon begin to suffer if you are physically unfit and eating badly.

Creating Holistic Health and Wellbeing

In many ways, wellbeing refers to how well your life reflects and satisfies your needs. It is the perceived balance between your physical, mental, and emotional health.

This balance is different for every person, and it changes as your circumstances change throughout life. In order to achieve or maintain positive wellbeing, you must recognise when there is an imbalance and learn how to identify and correct it.

This awareness of the signals, together with good strategies for returning to balance, are key skills when reaching and maintaining fulfilment in life.

The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal is a tool that helps you to find your balance.

Each day, you are encouraged to do something to benefit your physical, mental, and emotional fitness. Every 10 days, the journal reminds you to reflect on your habits and project new goals for going forward.

Remember, you cannot find balance once, and then not do anything and expect balance to remain. The trick is to recognise when you are unbalanced and learn how to find balance again.

Call to Action!

Think about your physical, mental, and emotional fitness. Are there are any areas where there is currently an imbalance? What can you do today to help you move more towards balance? You may need to do more or less than you currently have been doing to help restore balance to your lifestyle.
