Blog #15 - W9AD Key Principles (Part 1)

Welcome to Day 15 of the Wellbeing 9-a-Day blog! Now that we have finished our two-week probation with The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal, let’s take a closer look at the key principles that will help you get the most out of your journey towards transformed health and wellbeing. In today’s blog, we are going to look at the first two principles: Wellbeing is a Responsibility (Not a Right) and Start Small (Grow Big).

Wellbeing is a Responsibility (Not a Right)

The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal empowers you to take responsibility for your wellbeing and build positive habits that benefit you. Everyone must take responsibility for their own wellbeing if they are to lead a healthy lifestyle.

No one can exercise, learn or be mindful for you – you must do it for yourself.

The good news is that you are not alone. This journal has been designed so that you can personalise each habit to your own needs. The specifics of what you do, and why and how you do it, is truly up to you. After all, no one is better placed to set your goals than you.

Using The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal will not guarantee you excellent health and wellbeing. But by taking responsibility for your wellbeing and building daily habits that benefit your health, you give yourself the best chance of being fit and healthy when challenges or opportunities arise.

Remember, wellbeing is a responsibility, not a right.

Start Small (Grow Big)

When you decide that it is time to improve your health and wellbeing, it is easy to get carried away and set lots of ambitious goals. The problem with this is that you can often start well, but soon find that your goals are unsustainable.

Big life changes rarely come about all at once. Tiny improvements snowball as time passes, creating an avalanche of improvements that transform the landscape of your life in ways that you never imagined.

There are no shortcuts when building habits or learning new skills. The only way to build habits or learn is to practice purposefully and regularly. This journal empowers you to build upon your practice consistently over time, reminding you to reflect at regular intervals so that you can recalibrate for the next leg of the journey.

If you keep hitting your goals, aim a little higher. As you grow as a person, you will be capable of doing more with less. If you keep missing your goals, set your sights lower. It is better to set a small goal that you will hit rather than a big one that you won’t.

Remember, we are not aiming for the last step. We are aiming for the next step.

By taking that next step each day, you will be amazed by how far you can come. Starting small and growing big empowers you to enjoy the benefits of daily victories as you continue your journey of transformation.

Start small. Grow big.

Call to Action!

Take some time today to reflect on these two principles. Are there any tweaks that you can make to your daily W9AD goals that will help you achieve your longer term aims? Your journey with The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal is all about learning, both about yourself and how to build habits. By taking regular opportunities to reflect on your progress, you can improve your ability to ensure that you keep taking the right steps time after time.

Last night, we were thrilled to host our first online W9AD session! We'd like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who took part - it was our pleasure to host such a lovely group and get you started on your journey with The Wellbeing 9-a-Day Journal. We're looking forward to seeing you on 1st March for our next session, which will focus more on Setting Goals.
